About the Team:
William Blair Investment Management's accounting and corporate actions team is responsible for two primary functions: reconciliation and corporate actions. The reconciliation group reconciles security positions, security market values, transactions, and cash balances that are maintained on an internal accounting platform against that of the custodians for both counseling and institutional accounts. In addition, a group of dedicated reconciliation analysts support this function, focused on specific initiatives, such as process improvements and enhancements. The corporate actions group performs the processing of both mandatory and voluntary events, such as mergers, acquisitions, spinoffs, stock splits, dividends, tender offers, and other corporate events. Team members work with William Blair's internal trading groups and custodians to ensure events are processed accurately and promptly.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to and assist in the oversight of staff engaged in the reconciliation of the Firm's accounting records to our clients' custodial books and records.
  • Responsible for training new employees and participating in the hiring process for new staff members.
  • Be available as a resource assisting in problem resolution, answering staff questions, and provide coverage support as needed.
  • Continually assess the effectiveness of established procedures. Perform quality control review of daily and monthly accounting processes. This includes monitoring accuracy and timeliness of accounting processes completed and utilizing results to assess and minimize any risk associated with established processes and proposed process changes.
  • Assist in maintaining policies and procedures and ensure all assigned responsibilities are performed in an efficient manner meeting established timeliness and quality standards on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist in the completion of projects related to new initiatives.
  • Establish and meet deadlines, provide consistent feedback to management on the status of deliverables, summary of action taken and planned next steps to effectively reach the stated goal of the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • 4 - 5 years of Financial Services experience.
  • Understanding of how to support of both an institutional and high net worth client base.
  • Ability to oversee the processing of account transitions.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Commits to satisfying internal and external customers.
  • Extreme detail orientation and commitment to meeting identified quality standards.
  • Delivers clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects.
