This is an initial 12-15-month contract opportunity for an AI Engineer to join a specialist enablement team, developing practical AI and automation solutions that solve real business problems.You'll work closely with data, engineering and business stakeholders in an environment focused on rapid delivery, experimentation and continuous improvement.
Your new roleAs an AI Engineer, you'll build practical AI tools and automations designed to simplify manual processes and support engineering and operational teams.Rather than working on lengthy strategic programs, the focus is on identifying opportunities, developing solutions quickly and delivering incrementally, with initial tools targeted for delivery within short development cycles.You'll work alongside a Principal Data Scientist and broader specialist team to understand business processes, develop fit-for-purpose solutions and continue refining them as requirements evolve.Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing AI-enabled tools and automation solutions using Python
• Building solutions across technologies such as Snowflake, SQL and AWS SageMaker
• Exploring AI use cases including agents and document extraction
• Automating manual or repetitive business processes
• Using Power Apps and Power Automate to support workflow automation
• Building rapid prototypes and applications using Streamlit or similar frameworks
• Working directly with engineering and business stakeholders to understand end-to-end processes
• Delivering solutions iteratively within short, agile development cycles
• Navigating enterprise technology, cyber security and system-access requirements

What you'll need to succeedYou'll be a hands-on technologist who enjoys building, testing and improving solutions rather than spending extended periods in strategy or discovery.You'll ideally bring:

• Strong Python programming skills
• Experience taking AI solutions from concept to working tool within short, iterative development cycles
• Experience developing practical AI or AI-enabled applications
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with data platforms such as Snowflake
• Exposure to AWS SageMaker or similar AI/ML platforms
• Experience with workflow automation and tools such as Power Automate
• Power Apps experience
• Streamlit or comparable rapid application development experience
• An understanding of AI agents, document extraction or similar applied AI use cases
• Experience translating business problems into working technical solutions
• An agile mindset with the ability to deliver, learn and iterate quickly
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• A proactive, optimistic approach and genuine interest in emerging technology
• Previous experience working within complex enterprise, engineering, resources or asset-intensive environments would be advantageous.
