The Opportunity
My client is a growing and highly regarded accounting firm based in Canberra. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Intermediate Accountant to join their Business Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their public practice experience, work closely with experienced accountants and partners, and continue developing their technical and client-facing skills.

The firm provides accounting, taxation and advisory services to a diverse client base across a wide range of industries.

About the Role
Working alongside Senior Accountants and Managers, you'll assist in preparing financial statements and tax returns while building your technical expertise and developing strong client relationships. As your experience grows, you'll gain greater exposure to advisory work and take on increasing responsibility for managing client engagements.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for a range of business entities
• Assisting with tax compliance, BAS, IAS and other client reporting requirements
• Supporting Senior Accountants and Managers with client advisory projects
• Liaising directly with clients to respond to queries and gather information
• Building strong relationships with clients while developing your own portfolio over time
• Using cloud-based accounting software including Xero and related applications
• Assisting with workflow management to ensure client deadlines are met

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• 2-4 years' experience in public practice accounting in Australia
• Currently studying towards or recently completed your CA or CPA qualification (or willingness to commence)
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting principles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and develop
• Experience with Xero and cloud accounting software will be highly regarded
