Description & Requirements

Are you an experienced Liberty professional ready to take the next step in your career and apply your underwriting or claims expertise in a strategic, market-facing role? As Client Engagement Manager, you'll have the opportunity to build on your existing Liberty experience while developing strategic relationships with key clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.

This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced insurance professional to broaden their career into Distribution and apply their established insurance knowledge, relationship-management capability and stakeholder-coordination skills. You'll help coordinate Liberty's response to client needs, identify opportunities and strengthen whole-of-account engagement. You'll work with colleagues across underwriting, claims, risk engineering, products and leadership, while building further commercial and market-facing capability.

The role operates within a relatively lean team structure and carries a significant level of autonomy and accountability. We are therefore seeking someone who is already operating successfully at a mid-to-senior level, with the judgement, maturity and proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and deliver outcomes independently. Previous Distribution experience is not essential, but a demonstrated track record of accountability, influence and delivery is important.

If so, read on to find out more!

Key responsibilities

As Client Engagement Manager, you will use your Liberty experience, insurance knowledge and relationship skills to support the execution of Liberty Australia's Key Client Strategy. You will help strengthen relationships, coordinate a consistent client experience and connect the right people across Liberty to support retention and growth. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with designated key clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a client advocate within Liberty, ensuring client priorities, feedback and concerns are understood and appropriately addressed.
  • Coordinate engagement across underwriting, claims, risk engineering, operations, product and leadership teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationship maps, stakeholder engagement plans, account plans and servicing frameworks.
  • Facilitate account planning meetings, strategic reviews, client discussions and relationship governance activities.
  • Track actions, commitments, engagement activity and outcomes, ensuring stakeholders remain aligned and accountable.
  • Support client retention and growth initiatives by identifying opportunities for broader Liberty product engagement and improved client experience.
  • Coordinate executive engagement, client events, workshops, forums and thought-leadership activities.
  • Prepare client intelligence, executive briefings, account packs, presentations and management reporting.
  • Support strategic client and APAC engagement opportunities, including multinational relationship activity where appropriate.

About you

You will be an experienced insurance professional, such as an underwriter or claims specialist, who is ready to apply your technical knowledge and established relationship-management capability in a strategic, market-facing role. You will have demonstrated the judgement, maturity and autonomy required to manage complex stakeholder relationships, coordinate activity across multiple Liberty functions and represent client priorities effectively.

Previous Distribution experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who can bring strong relationship management, market-facing capability, a self-starting approach and a genuine interest in understanding and advocating for clients. You will be expected to take ownership, exercise sound judgement and deliver outcomes with a high degree of independence.

You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, claims, underwriting or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience and accountability at a mid-to-senior professional level.
  • A proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence a range of stakeholders and coordinate outcomes across teams.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and navigating competing priorities.
  • A client-focused approach, with the confidence to understand priorities, advocate for outcomes and coordinate effective responses.
  • Sound judgement and the maturity to operate autonomously in client- and market-facing situations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to engage confidently with clients, brokers, colleagues and senior leaders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Strong organisation, planning and coordination capability, with close attention to detail.
  • Commercial, financial and market awareness, together with the ability to identify relationship and growth opportunities.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical capability, including the ability to draw insights from relationship and client information.
  • Confidence working collaboratively across teams, taking initiative and delivering in a changing environment.
  • A commitment to Liberty's values, continuous improvement and your own ongoing development.
