Job Requirements:
We are recruiting for a Head of Compliance & MLRO to oversee the Company’s group-wide Compliance program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The candidate will need to ensure the company is in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and the Central Bank of Bahrain laws and rules. The role holder is expected to establish and maintain effective compliance systems, polices, procedures and MLRO controls for compliance with applicable requirements in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s legislation and those set by the CBB, and those established under any other statute or regulator to which the Company is subject to.
Education/Certifications:
- Hold a degree from a university at bachelor level or higher or a relevant professional qualification in compliance;
- Have relevant certification(s) specific to this role. Such certifications may include but are not limited to: (i) International Diploma in Compliance offered by the International Compliance Association; and/or (ii) ACAMS or International Advanced Certificate in Compliance and Financial Crime offered by the International Compliance Association; and/or (iii) Any other relevant professional qualification deemed suitable by the CBB. These may include qualifications in areas related to the license.
Experience:
- 16+ years PQE in preferably financial services industry
- 10+ years in AML/CFT and Compliance risk management
Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:
- Strong leadership and managerial skills.
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
- Ability to effectively manage conflict and other challenging situations
- Thorough understanding of the industry and the applicable regulatory framework for all jurisdictions that the company operates in
- Thorough understanding of Central Bank of Bahrain rules
- Knowledge of best practices in Compliance policies and procedures
- Knowledge of payment industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of the standards, laws, and regulatory environment and implications for the administration of an effective compliance program in the company.
