Job Purpose:

This position with the application support team is responsible for assisting Head of Applications Support to implement major banking applications in ABC Units & Subsidiaries, to develop new banking applications and customizations.

Principal Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables of Role:

 Development

  • Assist in the implementation of new Business and Technological initiatives by the bank using newest technologies
  • Perform programming as directed by project management team.
  • Prepare technical and user documentation for systems developed in-house.
  • Provide Source Safe solutions for Internal In-House Development, the customization for the packaged solutions, and for the reporting.
  • Assist in the packaging, documentation and release of software, either to Head office production or to other ABC units.
  • Manage modification of, or modify in-house developed application programs to correct software errors.
  • Develop test scenarios and test data for entire applications
  • Participate in testing and production of test strategies
  • Assist the users to conduct user acceptance testing when required
  • Maintain the integrity of ABC’s standard application environments for the purpose of reliable maintainable and effective systems.

Support

  • Provide users with telephone support, where applicable, for quick answers.
  • Analyze and resolve application software problems and queries reported by the bank’s users of the current banking systems in order to maintain and maximize the effective user of these systems for the processing of the bank’s business
  • Provide adequate information to allow other staff to raise faults to the vendor and for them to monitor progress.
  • Supports users by developing documentation and assistance tools. - Make sure that all incidents raised by users are resolved in timely manner.

Compliance

  • Ensure standards are followed - Provide input to preparation of procedures and standards
  • Maintain the integrity of ABC’s standard application environments for the purpose of reliable, maintainable and effective systems.
  • Log all the change request on service desk and follow the bank standard procedures.

Security

  • Understand information security advancements to support in implementing customized and packaged solutions from information security perspective.

Team work

  • Provide periodic status report about development status - Ensure that the head of application services knows of delays and significant problems in timely manner.

New technologies

  • Actively expand knowledge of software and applications, in order to be able to give better and more effective service to the user departments.
  • Keep up to date with new areas of technology in the search for more cost effective and better solutions to application functional requirements.
  • Assist in software selection from technology and user requirement point of view.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies used in the job context, from new programming languages to the technological trends.
  • Understand how packaged solutions architected to provide better reporting and transactional solutions over it.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge

  • Database knowledge in oracle, SQL server –

Programming languages: .NET, Java, JavaScript, HTML5

  • Web development: HTML 4, HTML 5, DHTML, CSS, ASP.NET, JQuery, AJAX, Web services.
  • Knowledge in SharePoint solutions
  • Knowledge in web trends such as HTML 5, JavaScript libraries
  • Knowledge in standard web services (SOAP, REST)
  • Analysis and user’s requirement gathering
  • Documentation skills

Education / Certifications

  • This is a role for an individual educated up to a degree level

Experience

  • This is a role for individual who is experienced software applications developer

Personal Attributes

  • 1+ years working in all aspects of the development life cycle from system analysis to development.
  • With a good grasp of technology, methodologies and the direction IT is taking.
  • Technical and programming language skills in the mid-range or client server environments.
  • Ability to write business analysis, technical and user documents in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain good working relations with the users.
  • Self-motivated and able to plan won time effectively
  • Team player
