Management of international Islamic Banking Audit, adding value to the functions/ activities performed by the Islamic Banking function at International entities across the entire banking group by identifying instances/ risks that entail probable financial loss or regulatory non-compliance. You will develop the annual audit plan and risk review and manage the review of the portfolio of the Islamic banking activities and the adequacy of the risk management processes in place to determine quality of the Islamic credit and investment exposures.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Principal Specialist - International Corporate, Private Banking, Credit & Islamic Banking Audit in adding value to the functions/ activities performed by the Islamic Banking at International entities (and the other functions/ activities assigned as mentioned above) by identifying instances/ risks that entail probable financial loss or regulatory non-compliance (including non-compliance with Sharia principles) that could result in monetary penalties/ reputation damage through the international Islamic Banking audit and risk review processes.
  • Assist the Principal Specialist - International Corporate, Private Banking, Credit & Islamic Banking Audit in identifying potential cost saving opportunities by highlighting process inefficiencies through the above-mentioned processes.
  • Implements KPI’s and best practices for the role.
  • Assist the Principal Specialist - International Corporate, Private Banking, Credit & Islamic Banking Audit in ensuring adequate coverage of the activities performed by the international Islamic Banking area (and the other functions/ activities assigned as mentioned above) in the annual audit plan to provide assurance to the relevant auditee management, executive management, Group Audit & Compliance Committee and the Board on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal controls in place within the respective function/ area and add value to improve the functioning of the various activities performed by the concerned division/ department, as and where applicable.
  • Provide input to annual audit and risk review and other audit tasks plan to the Principal Specialist - International Corporate, Private Banking, Credit & Islamic Banking Audit based on the impact of the risks on the goals, objectives and strategy of the Group with respect to Islamic Banking and the other areas assigned to the Islamic Banking Audit team as part of their secondary responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement appropriate risk assessment methodology/ parameters and criteria in consultation with the Principal Specialist, International Corporate, Private Banking, Credit & Islamic Banking Audit to facilitate evaluation of the individual functions/ processes/ products/ and related procedures based on the risk involved in the referenced activity/ function/ area.
  • Manage the review of the portfolio performed by his/her team of the Islamic banking activities and the adequacy of the risk management processes in place to determine quality of the Islamic credit and investment exposures, both "on" and "off" balance sheet. Overall responsible for the evaluation of the process in place to check compliance with internal policies, limits, external statutory and local/ international regulatory requirements in this regard.
  • Responsible for the utilization of the appropriate audit software procured by Group Internal Audit by all personnel reporting to the incumbent.
  • Responsible for imparting training/ guidance to trainees who join the Group Internal Audit.
  • Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements including, but not limited to, Group Compliance Policies and Procedures (AML & CTF, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy).
  • Ensure systematic good outcomes for clients in accordance with Conduct Risk policy.
  • Support the framework of RCSA, KRI, Incident reporting and remediation, as appropriate, in accordance with the Operational Risk Management requirements.

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree preferably in finance, economics, accounting, banking, Management or related subjects.
  • Professional certification or designation such as CIA, CPA, CA, ACCA, CBA or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a major bank or leading audit firm with specific knowledge of Islamic Banking knowledge out of which 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Extensive knowledge of Islamic Banking products and related practices.
