Job Summary:

  • Manage, monitor, steer and track all projects in order to ensure that projects are implemented and completed successfully within the defined time, budget and scope with the support of the originally allocated resources
  • Prepare management information reports on a continuous basis to brief Executive Management on the status of project completion and suggest corrective action if required
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Project Management Office (PMO) for all planned, ongoing, and ad hoc projects in the Group
  • Support in rolling out and championing the overall project management methodology, processes, procedures, tools and templates to manage the overall project portfolio within Doha

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to successfully monitor and track the Group’s portfolio of ongoing projects
  • Assist the Head of PMO in all project related matters (e.g., collection of data, liaison with project managers, preparation of relevant material and information)
  • Assist in liaising with all divisions in order to set up new projects (i.e., critical path, milestones, project organization, budget, resources, etc.)
  • Follow-up on potential project issues with concerned parties and ensure resolution of issues within defined time frame
  • Effectively communicate relevant project/ practice information to superiors and peers
  • Participate in relevant project/ team meetings as and when required
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationship with all other related departments and units to ensure the successful completion of ongoing projects within defined time frame
  • Roll-out the project management methodology within Doha when necessary
  • Assist in the development and preparation of all policies/ processes and procedures as well as standards
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of an inventory of projects including all related and necessary documentation and information within the appropriate PMO tools
  • Regularly update project information through the preparation of project status reports, using a fact driven approach aligned against the original project scope, plan and objectives
  • Support in the preparation of management information reports on all planned and ongoing projects on a continuous and ad hoc basis as directed
  • Develop and foster through the establishment of best practice standards and governance, providing direct assistance/ coaching, a project management culture across all functions of the bank
  • Support the on boarding of new recruits into PMO, including steps related to identification, interview and recruitment and Day 1 on boarding onwards
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Project Management methodology and practice
  • Identify areas for professional development
  • Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Prince II and PMP certification
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in project management in the financial services arena
  • Basic understanding of project methodology and approach
  • Proven track record in a similar position, preferably in or with a PMO of a bank with international exposure
  • Previous experience as a project manager in various business and IT related projects
  • Training courses and certification in systems technology, management and banking
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (Arabic is an asset)
  • Experience in collaborating effectively with various hierarchy levels across the organization
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work in a relatively unstructured, project-based and multicultural environment
  • Ability to understand the strategic vision, and grasp the ‘bigger picture’
  • High degree of customer sensitivity/ acumen
  • Hands-on mentality, highly proactive, self-driven / motivated, eager to learn and to develop
  • Personal qualities such as being self-driven and a team worker
  • Well-developed leadership, motivational and team-building skills
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
