Person:
The incumbent will be managing centralized processing of the Group's Trade Finance transactions encompassing Import , Export Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections, implement standards and lead the work of the individual teams (Import L/Cs, Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections) to ensure timely and seamless processing of transactions and conduct of activities pertaining to trade finance operations in the most effective and efficient manner resulting in the highest level of customer service quality and ensuring that the related financial and operational risks are mitigated.

Experience:
Provide inputs in the creation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), for performance monitoring and quality measurement purposes for the Group's foreign trade operations for Import & Export L/Cs, Documentary Collections and monitor the achievements of unit on periodic basis.
Provide inputs to the Department's annual budget and report variances to the Executive Manager-Trade Finance on a timely basis.
Ensure the existence of adequate procedures/ processes to enable timely identification and resolution of processing errors/ duplicate processing/ suspicious transactions and thereby help avoid the incidence of financial/ reputation loss for the Group.
Ensure the provision of adequate and efficient Import & Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections transaction processing services to internal customers and thereby help them serve external customers in a more efficient manner, resulting in increased external customer satisfaction levels.
Provide inputs to the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/ units to achieve improvements in turn around time (TAT) with respect to transactions processed/ services performed by personnel within Import, Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections units.
Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with all the other related departments to achieve the Group's goals/ objectives.
Provide adequate technical support and assistance with respect to Import, Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections related transactions, as and when required.
Lead the daily activities of the Import, Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections personnel and review exception reports and take the required measures/ actions to avoid incidence of loss on the Group.
Review all Import, Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections transactions (as per the incumbent's delegated powers) to ensure the underlying transactions and the L/C terms have been properly understood, relevant documentary requirements have been fulfilled and that no onerous clauses exist in the documentation in order to protect the Group's interests.
Ensure Import, & Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections personnel are complying with all related policies/ procedures, laws and regulations.
Monitor all facility utilization, as well as system amendments versus approved personal loans.
Supervise and oversee the daily and monthly balancing of L/Cs Operations records to reflect the actual liabilities of the Group and its clients.
Coordinate with other managers to ensure that outstanding project finance clients do not exceed limits, and that dues/ past dues are followed-up on daily basis.
Prepare and submit reports to senior management to monitor workflow and income in addition to the monthly and quarterly reports.
Oversee administration of Letter of Credit facilities with banking institutions.
Responsible for ensuring collateral fees assessed are reasonable.
Negotiate complex Letter of Credit information for backstop credits as related to payoffs and new business.
Provide guidance to loan closing, marketing and loan administration departments as required for Letter of Credit support.
Ensure proper segregation of duties exists amongst staff working in Import, & Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections.
Ensure timely completion of all reports, returns and requests for information by QCB/ other regulators with respect to transactions processed by Import, Export L/Cs and Documentary Collections personnel.
Support International Branches and Subsidiaries

Identify areas for professional development of self and all direct reports, and act to enhance professional development of self and others.
Keep abreast of changes in International Chamber of Commerce/ relevant UCP rules pertaining to documentary credits and local/ international laws and regulations affecting trade finance operations especially on Import, & Export L/C & Documentary Collections and continually update staff on the same.
Hold meetings with direct reports and assess their performance as well as department's overall performance on a regular basis.
Take decisive action to ensure speedy resolution of staff unresolved grievances or conflicts within the individual teams comprising the Department.
Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.

Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
Min 10-15 years of experience in Foreign Trade Operations (Import/ Export Letters of Credits/Documentary Collections) with at least 6-8 years at a managerial level.
