Business Function

Group Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions - whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.

Job Purpose

The Strategic Cost Management and Digital Value Capture team is responsible for driving strategic transformation programs focused on the efficiency/ cost agenda for the Bank across Singapore and the region. It is a high-performing, high visibility team housed within Finance and works closely with the Group CFO and senior business stakeholders on cross-functional projects that support and enable the Bank to deliver its broader financial and non-financial objectives.

More specifically, the successful candidate will be a critical team member in the following initiatives/ programs:

(1) Cost Allocation : a Bank-wide transformation programme that redefines the way cost is allocated across business/ support units and customer segments, as well as at a product- and customer-level based on their 'consumption'/ 'usage' of resources. The Bank is leveraging Big Data to provide transparent and granular linkages between cost allocation and its underlying drivers.
The team is tasked with delivering the end to end methodology for all markets as well as its implementation through an industrial solution. A well-designed and executed solution will enable the Bank to better manage its cost as well as drive behaviour change.

(2) Digital Value Capture (DVC) : a strategic initiative to measure and manage the financial value generated for the Bank digitisation. The program focuses on Consumer and SME customers in Singapore and Hong Kong; and quantifies the incremental financial impact to the Bank. The Bank is the first in the world to design, implement and report such metrics externally - many of our peers have since undertaken similar initiatives.
The DVC team owns the methodology to measure and track the financial impact, including the design thinking and on-going governance/ enhancement. Given its strategic importance, this program offers high visibility with frequent interactions with senior stakeholders. The team also works closely with Investor Relations to drive the external communication related to DVC.

The delivery of these complex programs requires strong thought leadership and frequent engagement across a range of senior stakeholders at DBS. This work requires a very capable and highly motivated AVP/ VP to develop, project-manage and deliver successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

Cost allocation

§ Develop, drive and deliver the new methodology for Cost Allocation for the Group. This includes:
- Identify opportunities for methodology enhancement, analyse options, develop insights and propose recommendations / solutions
- Work with stakeholders to develop design principles / insights and solutions
- Own the documentation of the methodology design
- Analyse large sets of qualitative and quantitative data
- Develop communication materials for senior stakeholder engagement including dashboards, presentations and write-ups
- Manage workstreams within the program roadmap and ensure project deliverables & milestones are achieved against agreed timeline

§ Facilitate implementation of the future Cost Allocation platform. This includes:
- Define sections of the business requirements of the industrial-scale automated solution
- Work with the technology and implementation team to develop the solution

Key deliverables

§ Sharpen the Cost Allocation methodology and design thinking across countries
§ Own the documentation of the methodology
§ Lead communication/ socialisation with business stakeholders

§ Implement Industrial engine jointly with technology team

Digital Value Capture

§ Own the overall methodology to identify and quantify value from digitisation
- Drive the identification and recommendation of opportunities to standardize and/or enhance methodology
- Lead senior stakeholder engagement across business units to implement standardization and/or enhancement initiatives
- Develop and manage the documentation of methodology

§ Drive governance processes
- Program-manage quarterly Steering Committee meetings
- Drive goals and targets setting; Track and monitor progress towards targeted outcomes with related analyses

§ Drive analytics to sharpen insights
- Analyse large sets of qualitative and quantitative data
- Analyse options, develop insights and propose recommendations / solutions

§ Manage external reporting and investor communications
- Develop internal and external communication materials for stakeholder engagement

Key deliverables

§ Sharpen analytical insights and enhance consistency across business units
§ Own the documentation of the methodology
§ Deliver quarterly Steering Committee reviews to enable timely business actions where required
§ Deliver external presentation materials and associated analytics

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with minimum 5+ years of experience with excellent analytics, problem-solving and project management skills. The successful candidate would be a self-starter with exceptionally high levels of energy, commitment and focus to drive outcomes. He/ she must have strong ability to work in ambiguous situations and ability to quickly adapt to changes in priorities.

Prior experience in management consulting preferred, but not essential.
