Job Description Summary
The Public Cloud Platform Team, as part of Platform Technology, are recruiting across a range of grades and roles to create LBG's next generation of Cloud Engineers and Leaders.

We are seeking Public Cloud Engineers at grade D Upper to train in the provision and support of Public Cloud environments across Microsoft Azure, Azure Stack and IBM Bluemix Platforms with the potential to work on our future Google and Amazon Web Services offerings.

Job Description

The role will be technically hands on, working under supervision to undertake a variety of tasks such as server deployment (Windows and Linux), patching, virtual network configuration (VNET / Subnet), undertaking maintenance tasks, and break fix support. The role holder must demonstrate strong quality and service focus.

The Public Cloud Engineer will need to be multi-skilled and operate within a DevOps practice. They must have a broad understanding of IT technology as well as being a specialist in a core technology used within Cloud. For example, being a specialist in Windows server in addition to a good working knowledge of databases, networks, and high availability services.

The role holder will provide 24x7 support to the cloud platforms supported by the bank, initially Microsoft Azure.

The role holder will be responsible for knowledge transfer and mentoring of Public Cloud Practitioners and there will be an expectation that they self-develop across other cloud vendors as the requirement arises.

The role holders will be expected to work closely with programme delivery teams working on Public Cloud projects to ensure new solutions are fit for purpose.

Proven systematic and analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to implement effective business solutions are essential.

Skills

Key accountabilities

•Install, support, and maintain technologies supporting Public Cloud services according to Group standards and policies, and to agreed service levels

•Provision of technical support (including incident and problem resolution) for systems and processes in complex environments. This will include 24x7 on-call support.

•With supervision, carry out complicated technical activities in support of project delivery, service improvement and ongoing support of the platform

•Understand the road maps of public cloud providers ensuring changes are assessed against the services provided

•Create and review technical documentation for maintenance and support of public cloud platforms

•Responsible for adherence to standards through peer reviews.

•Review platform and CIO led deliverables to support change within agreed timescale utilising the group's standard change practices and tools.

•Identify and implement improvements to technical processes and toolsets to improve resource and cost efficiency

•Responsible for development of appropriate test plans in support of changes to any public cloud services

•Identify opportunities for continuous automation of tasks to ensure minimal manual input and handoffs.

•Identify and remediate risks associated with the environment.

•Support the development and delivery of future Public Cloud technical direction.

•Use extensive platform and analysis knowledge to continuously improve and advocate best practices and knowledge sharing activities.

•Perform own work, and oversee colleagues' work, in accordance with the values and behaviours and risk parameters of the Group
