Head of Business Systems Development

Harvey Nash has been engaged by a truly fantastic and emerging organisation based in central Harrogate to recruit a Head of Systems Development on a permanent basis. The organisation are embarking on the most significant technology transformation journey in the business' history, and as such have created a new business division, pulling in resources across development, architecture and infrastructure, with the HOSD sitting at the helm.

The organisation are embarking on the most significant technology transformation journey in the business' history, and as such have created a new business division, pulling in resources across development, architecture and infrastructure, with the HOSD sitting at the helm.

You will lead all aspects of systems architecture, design, development and the supporting infrastructure to deliver solutions that meet the needs of the business' growth and development.

We're looking for a blend of systems, development and architectural expertise and strong technical knowledge, but the most important thing is that this individual is an excellent leader of people, very articulate and can enable and unlock the potential of IT teams. You'll also have excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to both challenge and inspire senior business leaders on how technology can enable the strategic vision.

Key Role Requirements:

  • Excellent team management ability with proven leadership credentials in a transformational environment

  • Experience of delivering systems transformation and enhancement
  • Knowledge of architecture best practises (e.g TOGAF)
  • Strong knowledge of the SDLC and software development principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of networks and infrastructure
  • Strong experience of delivering change and continuous improvement in line with change and service management frameworks (e.g ITIL)
