Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts , as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Team Leads to join HSBC Technology.

Business Area Overview
GBM Big Data Services department supports Data Science and Data Analytics programmes across Global Banking and Markets (GBM) business areas. This is a key capability to unlock higher value from the platform enabling rapid experimentation on diverse datasets as well as build out applications to support business processes.

Assets that are being developed as part of the programme to support the business. These assets include the creation of a “Data Lakes” for GBM, or a single virtual pool of client, transaction, product, instrument, pricing and portfolio data. Supporting the “lakes” are a set of operational processes to deliver Big Data as an end-to-end Service: a Data Factory to take in data into the Lake and clean it, and an Analytics Factory staffed with Data Scientists and Analysts to support businesses in turning data into actionable insights.


What you will be doing;
The Distribution Platforms team is a key part of the wider GBM Digital department and is responsible for visual channels and their supporting technology. Based in Toronto, London, Pune & China the team maintains and extends a suite of HTML5 and Java-based eCommerce applications used both internally by Sales and externally by the banks Customers.

The successful candidate undertaking this role will join the team as a team lead and will work with other team-members to design, develop, test and release the various HTML5 and Java (server side) for prioritised functionality.
As a team lead, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties with a high level of competence:
  • Liaise with nominated business stakeholders when required to ensure that business requirements are fully understood before commencing design and development

  • Owning many sets of requirements, working with the delivery teams and following through to resolution.
  • Understanding the roles of the various IT components involved in the delivery and determining the configuration required for each.
  • Participation across the developing, testing and implementation project streams


Qualifications
What you will bring to the role;

As a team lead, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties with a high level of competence:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrable experience of Continuous Delivery software development methods, including TDD and automated testing (including non-functional testing).
  • Strong knowledge of trade flow, front to back, covering at least one asset class.
  • An experienced Business Analyst (BA) working at all levels covering implementation projects, particularly regulatory or complex merger situations.
  • An application development background, specifically focussing on user-centric requirements to address process improvement.
  • Demonstrable analysis experience in MI and Sales reporting project delivery.
  • Experience of taking Business process and IT change projects to completion.

NON TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong customer focus and commitment to delivery with relationship management skills
  • Able to conceptualise and articulate complex processes and requirements
  • Strong team player, willing to take the lead when required and to own deliverables from start to finish.
  • Experience of working with Agile development teams and bridging to waterfall outcomes.
  • Excellent problem solving and User support skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach to delivery.
  • Experienced user of database query tools for sql server and/or oracle
  • Experience of working on globally resourced projects.
  • How to liaise effectively with users â€" in this role this will be with sales, traders and quants.

Bonus points for
  • Experience working in a front-office FX environment
  • Experience supporting global FX trading desk
  • Knowledge of Spot and forward FX market conventions
  • Knowledge of HSBC processes, regulatory programme delivery and key players

These roles will primarily be London site based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf
