Senior Product Engineer

About Trussle
Owning your own home should be one of the most exciting times of your life. But for too long it's been overshadowed by the daunting process of getting a mortgage. We're working to change that. At Trussle we're using data, design, and technology to solve the mortgage problem once and for all.

Having raised investment of £ 19.3M from leading investors including Goldman Sachs Principal Strategic Investments, launched key partnerships with players such as uSwitch and Zoopla, and becoming the highest-rated online mortgage broker on Trustpilot, we're well placed to continue our rapid growth.

At Trussle, we're not just building the best online mortgage experience for home owners. We're also building a second home for our employees, with the necessary support to help them get out just as much as they put in. We're very aware that our team spends the majority of their waking hours at our office. So we invest in every one of them - from providing regular lunches, socials, and meditations sessions, to offering a week's paid Learning & Development budget so they can learn outside the office too. We may be a tech company, but we believe it's our people that make Trussle our second home.

About Engineering at Trussle
Most of our applications are written in TypeScript, although we have some JavaScript and Go services as well. Our front end applications are written in a mixture of React and Angular 1.x. Behind the scenes we use NodeJS, as well as PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch. All of our services are hosted on AWS, currently with a Kubernetes deployment on top. CI/CD is handled by Jenkins, with automated Docker builds and deployments to staging. Git and Github are part of our process. We expect our senior engineers to be experts in JavaScript or TypeScript and have a breadth of experience in other technologies: we want to use the right tool for the job.

About the role
Borrowing heavily from Spotify's model of organising teams, the team is split into autonomous squads. These cross-functional groups focus on solving problems in a specific business area:

- The Acquisition team aim to optimise for growth by understanding the needs of customers. This squad supports the commercial and marketing side of the business, building tools to help them react faster and reach a wider audience. They also develop, run and analyse A/B tests to optimise our website, partnerships and marketing.
- The Scalability team aim to make our operations more efficient. In this squad, your customers are your colleagues: you are constantly improving internal systems used by our mortgage advisers and customer success associates every day to ensure our technology scales with our growth ambitions. As a Senior Product Engineer, we expect you to integrate with or lead one of these teams. As well as this, you'll be focusing on ways to improve the entire Engineering department, through coding standards, projects and process changes. We're open to applications from specialists in front-end and back-end engineering, as well as full-stack engineers.
