Part of the Group Business Performance Management (BPM) team, with specific focus on monthly Group level performance reporting to senior stakeholders including the Centrica Board and the Centrica Leadership Team (CLT).
You will collaborate with finance colleagues in the business to produce Group level performance materials to the highest standard, giving insightful analysis to the Board and CLT.
Whilst the role will have specific accountabilities you will also be expected to provide support to the wider team as demand requires. This means the role gives a broad exposure to all of the Group BPM activity and insight into the performance of whole Group. It also offers excellent career progression opportunities both within Group BPM and across the wider finance organisation.
Key role accountabilities:
Plan & Monitor the Business
Manage the monthly P&L, EPS and Cash Flash processes ensuring the Group aggregation of the BU flashes captures all the key items whilst still being presented at the right level for senior stakeholders
Translate financial business performance (P&L, Cash, KPIs & Opex efficiency) into clear reporting content culminating in the monthly Group Performance Report for the Board
Liaise with colleagues in treasury, tax and pensions to understand variances to plan and forecasts.
Support the creation of monthly financial performance slide packs for the Board and CLT
Leverage Office365 tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and PowerPoint to make processes slicker, reporting more insightful, and to create time for fuller performance analysis.
Provide Decision Support
Provide supporting analysis for Group CFO to support preparation for Interims and Prelims external announcements, including the creation of a data pack.
Ensure Head of Group BPM and CFO are appropriately supported for CLT and Board discussions on financial performance
General
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Group.
Become the lead Group BPM contact with your allocated BUs to become the go to person for understanding of that BU's performance and to support BU with Group understanding
Develop understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts
Support the wider finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance
Co-ordinate the production of standard finance deliverables to the agreed format, timeline and quality. These will be supported by clear and focused messaging that supports the business area objectives
The Person:
Previous commercial finance experience within a large organisation
Experience in decision support
Communication of analysis and insight across the business
Track record of process improvement
Expertise in developing and maintaining models, and analysing data
Critical thinking and analytical skills to provide check and challenge to the business in their performance reporting in an effective and constructive manner
Good awareness of both P&L and Cashflow
Ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships
Capable of managing multiple tasks to a high standard for senior stakeholders and engage resource across the business and finance to deliver work to tight deadlines
Able to step away from the detail and see the bigger picture
Strong ability to summarise complex matters and communicate effectively to influence a range of audiences.
