State Street is looking for a seasoned media relations executive to join its Corporate PR team in Boston reporting to the head of North America PR. Specializing in media relations, this candidate will be driven, and looking to take their career to the next level. They will have strong relationships with top-tier and financial trade publications and be expert at proactively pitching complex stories, as well as experienced managing reputational issues. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, demonstrating a client-service approach for our internal stakeholders. They will be outcome-driven and be skillful at producing compelling reports and analysis that demonstrate campaign results or objectives have been achieved. This candidate will have very strong writing/editing skills, be exceptionally well organized and have high attention to detail.

  • Building differentiated earned media platforms
  • Reputation and issues management
  • Serving as a media handler for senior executives
  • Adept at understanding how to navigate complex industries and large organizations
  • Support with developing executive communications platforms
  • Building and retaining strong relationships with local, trade and national media
  • Ability to develop and execute on communications planning and messaging
  • Strong writing, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the financial industry is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Work with colleagues on the internal PR team and external agencies to create, refine and deliver differentiated media driven activity in support of the firms corporate PR strategy and State Streets individual business units objectives
  • Support each of State Streets corporate business units including Global Services, the investment servicing division of State Street; Global Markets, the investment research and trading arm; and Global Exchange, the firms data and analytics division
  • Develop or strengthen relationships with national and regional press contacts both within our day-to-day business, and ideally with key FinTech trades
  • Build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and partners to align PR strategy with business objectives
  • Independently own programs/campaigns from concept through to execution
  • Compose and edit content including press releases, bylines, talking points and media briefings
  • Support media interactions of business stakeholders at industry conferences

Essential Candidate Qualities:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum 7-9 years of experience in communications/public relations fields with a track record of successful track record of developing relationships with reporters and securing coverage
  • In house or previous agency experience both considered
  • Exceptional client management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create and manage integrated PR/marketing plans and timelines
  • Strong command of traditional, digital, social and integrated marketing tactics
  • A consummate team player with a can-do attitude
