We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Security Engineer is responsible for supporting a high availability network with zero downtime for each segmented leg of our network. This position reports to the Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) Director of Infrastructure and is responsible for planning, designing, installing and maintaining RSG’s internal network and security systems.

Position Summary:

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Security Engineer is responsible for supporting a high availability network with zero downtime for each segmented leg of our network. This position reports to the Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) Director of Infrastructure and is responsible for planning, designing, installing and maintaining RSG’s internal network and security systems.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Manage security systems at all levels of the business ranging from network devices to servers.
  • Monitor LAN infrastructure activity and performance for identifying potential security, speed, and performance utilizing LAN, QoS, VLAN, IOS, Netflow and SNMP.
  • Install and configure network resources such as LAN switches, load balancers, WAN accelerator devices etc.
  • Develop and produce system model and system architecture plans and designs, test plans, implementation plans, operation guides, and overall subject matter expertise for enterprise network solutions.
  • Utilize available network troubleshooting tools, including network packet captures, monitoring devices, and log files to facilitate effective issue resolution.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for advanced troubleshooting of network or systems related issues.
  • Work with the Director of Infrastructure and RSG’s CIO to define the network strategy, infrastructure, and system model to support further growth of the business.
  • Undertake both projects and steady-state activities.
  • Occasional travel between sites for upgrades and installations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required.

 

 




Profile:

Education/Experience/Skills:

 

  • BS in Management Information System, Computer Science, or a comparable technical degree.
  • Cisco CCNP or CCIE Certification preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of voice and data networking principles.
  • Network Security, including core and endpoint solutions (NAC/802.1x)
  • Proficiency in data security and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience with security auditing techniques and intrusion detection.
  • Experience with SPLUNK.
  • Cisco switches and routers: 3K, 7K Catalyst series IOS.
  • Ethernet technologies: spanning tree, vlans, trunking, channeling, and multilayer switching.
  • WAN technologies: MPLS.
  • IP routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP, HSRP.
  • Cisco Next Generation Firewalls, Cisco Aironet.
  • Palo Alto Firewalls – recommended.
  • Loadbalancers - F5, KEMP – recommended.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
