Electronic Trading Infrastructure Network Engineer

Our Global Technology Infrastructure group is a team of innovators rewarded with innovators who love technology as much as you do. Together, you'll use a disciplined, innovative and a business focused approach to develop a wide variety of high-quality products and solutions. You'll work in a stable, resilient and secure operating environment where you-and the products you deliver-will thrive.

Within the GTI group, the ETS team provides direct support for electronic trading teams within the bank, building and supporting a cutting-edge always-on low latency trading infrastructure, and utilizing cutting edge network and network automation tools and techniques to drive the success of the businesses we support.

An Electronic Trading Infrastructure Network Engineer is responsible for producing the network component solution designs for implementation of new business applications (and expansion of existing ones) in response to requirements tendered by the Business and the Application Development (AD) communities. They are also responsible for assisting in the implementation, troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance, and repair of the network components of those designs once they have been released into Production; and performing Performance and Capacity analysis on those components during their lifecycles. Additionally, they are responsible for planning and execution of Proof of Concept (POC) exercises in support of the vendor selection phase of the solution design cycle. An ETI Network Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the network infrastructure meets or exceeds ETI or broader standards of performance and user satisfaction. An ETI Network Engineer is a trusted advisor to the Business and AD community.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deep knowledge of network technologies, including troubleshooting of latency and availability issues in a complex global WAN environment
• Experience with network automation tools and techniques, such as Ansible, SaltStack, or similar
• Comfort with developing tools to solve problems, from small one-off scripts to complex automation solutions in a network setting.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of basic and advanced concepts in the fields of:
o Network processor (ASIC, FPGA, GPU, etc.) architecture
o Network system architecture (Processor, ASIC capabilities, physical port specifications, packet forwarding protocols, buffers, tuning/tweaking, etc.)
o Relevant network device operating systems (Cisco, Arista, CheckPoint, Juniper, etc.)
o Network architecture and protocols (TCP/IP, Security, Routing, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, load-balancing, LAN vs. MAN vs. WAN, disparate Layer 1 technologies, etc.)
o Front office trading flows (orders, acks, fills, cancels, etc.)
o Middle and back office trading flows (intraday alpha calcs, EOD alpha calcs, drop copies, reporting, etc.)
o The requirements and unique constraints associated with networking in high frequency/low latency trading environments
o Latency monitoring concepts and relevant industry solutions (Corvil, Correlix, etc.)
