Executive Director, Engineering Manager – Unified Communications Infrastructure

This is an extremely dynamic and innovative role requiring a senior candidate who lives and breathes Unified Communications and collaboration technology including both voice and video. Having a comprehensive understanding of the technology, as well as how to apply it to business use cases within institutional and retail environments is key to this role. We are looking for an exceptionally strong engineer and thought leader candidate who can take our platforms to the next level.
The Engineering Manager will be accountable for the engineering of solutions across the Unified Communications product suite, driving aggressive execution strategies and partnering with other technology groups and the end-user community to build and operate world-class collaboration tools.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Leading engineering initiatives, defining the global engineering strategy and associated technical roadmaps and importantly leading a highly valued engineering team across multiple sites.
The following technology platforms and services will be in scope:

  • Unified Communications Platforms (infrastructure and Applications) Telepresence and multi-media based collaboration
  • Session Management and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
  • Gateway development and management
The following are key responsibilities:
  • Ability to develop and maintain customer and partner relationships across peers in End User Services, Global Technology Operations, Global Real Estate and all Lines of Business through regular interlock sessions
  • Drives adoption of UC services and creates a strategic engineering roadmap
  • Develops strategic relationships with key vendors globally and identifies cost efficiency opportunities
  • Demonstrate an expert level competency on the core UC technology and be able to articulate that to all audiences, from technical staff to senior executives
  • Comprehensive view of the end to end product expense lifecycle
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • 15 years of experience in Information Technology with a specific emphasis on Unified Communications and it's interoperability with blended technologies, including integration into desktop solutions
  • Excellent understanding of network technologies and their relationship with Unified Communications solutions
  • Extensive knowledge in VoIP transport, such as H.323, SIP, call admission and control mechanisms, integration of cross platform technologies, centralization of call processing and network policy enforcement
  • Current knowledge of telephony PBX environments, dial plan schemes, trunking, reporting of usage and capacity metrics.
  • Experience in adapting various systems and customer environments to converged technologies.
  • Demonstrate service management experience with the ability to incorporate service, engineer and project management demands
  • Develop integrated monitoring solutions, correlating cross-platform events
  • Ability to multi-task and meet conflicting demands and deadlines
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
