RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in New York, NY. Multiple positions available. Design and develop software to automate aspects of the sales and trading of equity derivatives. Utilize technical expertise to drive software engineering initiatives and consult on problems that arise throughout the Equity Derivatives business. Work closely with business users, including quantitative analysts, traders, and sales representatives, to understand business requirements and translate business requirements into technical solutions. Use a variety of technical concepts to build distributed, scalable, high capacity systems to support high volume low latency business flows. Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, specification, design, development, testing, technical review and day-to-day support. Engage in and assist with software project planning, and lead software projects by engaging in project planning and keeping our stakeholders informed. Support systems by promptly resolving and fixing user issues and suggest improvements to the system. Mentor, instruct, train and provide technical guidance to more junior members of the team. Must be willing to work with proprietary technologies. No knowledge of proprietary technologies is required pre hire.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related position in financial services. Must have three (3) years of experience with: reading and writing software fluently in compiled and scripting languages, such as C, C++, C#, Java, Perl, or Python in Windows and Linux operating system environments; navigating and operating in an organization with a large, enterprise codebase; debugging and optimizing a large, enterprise codebase using common tools and techniques, including Eclipse and/or IntelliJ; writing software using modern scalability techniques including web-based solutions, distribution and micro-service architecture; applying software development lifecycle (SDLC) techniques including code reviews, version control, build and deployment tooling to contribute to a large, shared codebase and to collaborate with other members of a team and/or stakeholders; using relational databases such as Sybase or DB2; using object or NoSQL databases; developing software to facilitate sales and trading of equity cash and equity derivative securities and handle related post-trade life cycle and position-keeping; utilizing knowledge of capital markets across equity and fixed income asset classes; working on small project teams, coordinating projects across multiple teams, and mentoring and leading more junior employees; and working closely with business users, including quantitative analysts, traders, and securities salespeople to implement technical solutions.
