Director-Data Management & Analytics

Location: New York, NY, USA

The Role / Responsibilities:
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary project team to build the core customer data management infrastructure associated with the Salesforce Dot Com, Changepoint, Cvent, Marketo, CDR (Cognos) and other internal systems which are integrated with it to share customer and product data
  • Act as principal designer for major systems and data architecture
  • Provide integrated systems planning and recommend new or different technologies which will enhance current systems and support overall corporate and business goals
  • Communicate recommended architectural vision, customer data strategies as well as reporting & analytics roadmap strategies and obtain buy-in from senior management and key internal stakeholders
  • Solicit feedback from internal software users to identify opportunities for process optimization, process redesign, or development of new process/policies
  • Communicates effectively at all levels within the organization and contributes to Steering Committee meetings
  • Establish and manage a company-wide customer data governance process
  • Ensure that Architect reviews are performed and approving system designs
  • Work closely with the Software Engineers and CRM Business Team to execute the strategy utilizing technology where possible and building in functionality enhancements to prevent users from tainting clean data. Also ensure that new features are implemented according to specification and bugs are fixed.
  • Serve as product manager for the overall MA BI and Reporting applications including prioritizing releases
  • Leverage customer data analytics to develop and execute customer relationship management strategies
  • Analyze data related business problems and provide solutions with BI tools and technology at hand and where applicable proposes new tools and solutions which have a positive impact on the organization which will improve the existing analytics capabilities
  • Lead project planning activities with project managers, development teams, quality assurance, and other teams to define the milestones and activities within a comprehensive project plan to ensure project is on time and on budget
  • Ensure data quality through development and testing best practice
  • Build, motivate, train, mentor, evaluate, and manage team members
  • Manage and improve the user experience of our applications
  • Work with internal project teams to ensure that an explicit customer focus is maintained through project execution.
  • Provide content and review documentation for release or new features
  • Measure and track progress toward strategic goals through use of appropriate metrics
  • Administer policy, procedure, process standards for the effective management of the Business Systems and Data Management organization

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or technical discipline or equivalent. 12+ years related information systems experience. Master's degree a plus.
  • 12+ years of reporting and analytics experience.
  • Experience with system architecture methodologies with a proven track record of IT "thought leadership" and being a "change agent"
  • Strategic thinking and strong orientation to detail.
  • Experience with data quality, data cleanup, data strategy, customer data integration (CDI), enterprise information management (EIM), and/or master data management (MDM) projects a must.
  • Experience in IT strategy, architecture leadership
  • A senior level knowledge of systems development lifecycle, a must
  • The ability to leverage skills across multiple areas of responsibility by architecting multiple, complex solutions of high performing and flexible systems over a sustained period of time
  • Experience with implementing an ERP package a plus.
  • Understanding of simple to complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures and functions
  • Flexibility and prioritization skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills (including intermediate knowledge of Excel and Access and relational database queries).
  • Experience with Salesforce Dot Com, Peoplesoft, and other CRM applications preferred.
  • Hands on report development and/or data analysis experience using SQL in a SQL Server
  • Experience using Business Intelligence tools including Cognos, Business Objects, SSRS, or other decision support tools; Cognos experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite of products with emphasis on Access and/or strong emphasis on advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Management Studio
  • Strong background in business process analysis, requirements, and design, as well as data modeling, prototyping and detailed functional design.
  • Expert understanding of data analysis, including root-cause analysis, and other process modeling and systems design tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Must possess strong initiative and a get-it-done attitude.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership that includes the ability to instill passion and direction in their teams
  • A high level of confidence interacting with business professionals at all levels.
  • Excellent team player able to work with virtual and global cross functional teams.

  • Excellent, creative problem-solving skills.
