RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Salt Lake City, UT. Multiple positions available. Provide production support and work on building the UNIX infrastructure globally. Design, develop and manage the software environment that runs the Firm's Bare Metal and cloud computing environments, which consists of more than 40,000 machines. Provide day-to-day operational support of the grid and general-purpose cloud computing environments. Interact directly with business and technology staff to understand requirements, deliver solutions and resolve issues. Translate Business Continuity Plan requirements from our businesses into technical solutions and develop tools for automated BCP fail over and recovery. Design and develop tools for system administration and business client needs, including automated sever build and configuration process, system virtualization, host telemetry monitoring, certification and evaluation of hardware, web-based self-service tools, and network monitoring. Build automation tools using Shell Scripts and Python to streamline maintenance and eliminate noise in the environment. Utilize Autosys for scheduling maintenance jobs. Perform root cause analysis on system failures and incidents and provide remediation solutions. Manage project initiatives within the Unix team across large portions of the enterprise including datacenter migrations and coordinated host remediation efforts. Create and maintain runbooks (technical documentation) for newly on boarded processes as well as update existing processes and keep technical documentation up to date whenever there is a change. Communicate and coordinate with application support and other IT support teams to provide timely responses for critical requests. Consistently meet SLA's for the services provided. Daily monitoring of Unix infrastructure for hardware and operating system alerts, including ticket taking and resolution activities. Provisional activities including file system administration, user administration and OS build procedures.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related field. Employer will accept single degree or any combination of degrees, certifications and/or professional experience that are equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree. Must also possess five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have five (5) years of experience with: supporting platforms including Redhat Linux v3, 4, 5, and 6 and Sun Solaris 5.8 and 10; supporting hardware (HW) including Sun v240, v440, 4800, and 420r, Dell R610 and 710, Dell PowerEdge R620, HP 385, 585 and 480, Blades and HP ProLiant BL460c G6; fundamental distributed computing environments; performance tuning in a Linux environment; and performing an infrastructure Engineering role covering clients within the financial services industry. Must have three (3) years of experience with: applying troubleshooting abilities on DNS, DHCP, File Transfer Systems, Directory Services and Auto Proxy; and Incident, problem and change management processes and practices. Must have two (2) years of experience with configuration management tools including Puppet, Salt, and CFE.
