To lead, develop and enhance the CIB FLOD Transaction Monitoring Support (Alert Management) team. The role serves as a main interface point between the FLOD Operations, CIB Business Compliance / Risk & Control, Group Compliance and the RMs/CIB on the management of Sanctions and AML alerts. The leadership role should ensure this business model is embedded and working efficiently.

Job Specific Accountabilities


Strategic Contribution

  • Establish and develop the CIB First Line of Defence (FLOD) Transaction Monitoring function to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.
  •  Ensure implementation of the Bank’s Compliance strategy within CIB.


Transaction Monitoring Review & Request for Information (RFI)

Provide leadership (and perform as required) for a team which will conduct the following activities:

  • Liaison between the FLOD Operations Risk & Control, Group Compliance and RMs/CIB to ensure efficient flow of information and query resolution related to Sanctions and AML alerts.
  • Liaison between the enablement teams and CIB business teams to ensure efficient flow of information and query resolution related to CIB queries.
  • Action/follow-up on the decision to close customer’s accounts (based on trigger events).
  • Ownership over the RFI process.
  • Respond and draft RFIs and external queries in consultation with SMEs from the Business or Group Compliance.


People Management

  • Manage the CIB Alert Management Support teams by tracking against objectives and motivating staff to maximise performance.
  • Provide guidance and on the job training for staff and conduct knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Support the CIB Business Risk & Control Head to identify CIB Alert Management Support team resource shortfalls against the Department capacity plan.
  • Act as a role model to direct and indirect reports to drive adherence to organisational values and ethics and foster a value driven culture within the Bank.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Support the CIB Business Risk & Control Head to prepare and recommend the CIB Transaction Monitoring Support team’s budget and monitor adherence to budget, while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.

Policies, Systems, Process & Procedures

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that the work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the CIB FLOD in identifying continuous improvement and sustainability improvement opportunities for the related systems, processes and practices.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, corporate governance, risk management or internal audit.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 5-8 years of business experience preferably in a reputable international bank with an understanding of the global sanctions and AML landscape.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Alert Management
  • Experience in AML and Sanctions is mandatory.
