Part-Time Book-keeper/Accountant (DIFC Based)

A regulatory consultancy firm are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team in DIFC, Dubai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various financial tasks, including banking, reconciliations, VAT, payroll, and maintenance of books and records using the Xero accounting system. This position requires strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work independently. The Part-Time Bookkeeper will work closely with a London based finance team to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily banking activities, including deposits, withdrawals, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using the Xero accounting system.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Process payroll and DEWS accurately and in a timely manner, including calculating wages, preparing payslips, and handling statutory deductions.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Generate financial reports and provide detailed analysis to assist with decision-making.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and support financial planning.
  • Stay updated with changes in local accounting regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with auditors during the audit process.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and exercise discretion in handling sensitive data.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices in botht the UAE and UK.
  • Proficiency in using the Xero accounting system is essential.
  • Sound understanding of UAE VAT regulations and experience in preparing VAT returns.
  • Prior experience working in an environment with a timesheet system is essential
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (including DEWS).
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, AAT, CIMA) is essential.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role in Dubai/UAE based financial services business is essential

 

Working Hours:

This is a part-time position with flexible working hours, averaging 2 days per week.
The specific working schedule can be discussed and agreed upon during the hiring process.
