Our client is a well-established organisation undergoing a major digital transformation across its power, grid, and operational technology landscape. As they continue to modernise critical infrastructure and strengthen digital capabilities, they are seeking a Senior Solution Architect / Solution Architect to support the design and delivery of next-generation solutions across power systems, grid operations, asset management, and utility platforms.

Your new role

• Lead the design and development of solution architectures supporting power system operations, grid modernisation, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, technology, and business stakeholders to translate complex operational requirements into scalable technology solutions.
• Define current-state, target-state, and transition architectures aligned with organisational technology roadmaps and business objectives.
• Support digital initiatives across generation, transmission, distribution, and customer-facing operational systems.
• Drive the integration of Operational Technology and IT environments to improve visibility, automation, data accessibility, and operational performance.
• Provide architectural guidance across utility platforms supporting grid operations, power system planning, asset monitoring, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
• Support the design of data, application, integration, and analytics architectures to enable advanced operational insights and business outcomes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including cloud, AI, advanced analytics, IoT, digital twins, DERMS, and intelligent automation capabilities that can support future utility operations.
• Work with solution delivery teams and vendors to ensure architecture standards, security requirements, and best practices are maintained throughout project execution.
• Identify architecture risks, technical dependencies, integration challenges, and long-term platform considerations.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience within utilities, energy, power systems, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industries; Candidates with slightly less experience will be considered for the Solution Architect Solution.
• Experience contributing to large-scale digital transformation, Operational Technology and IT integration, grid modernisation, smart utility, or operational technology programmes.
• Strong understanding of power systems, transmission and distribution networks, grid operations, energy management, or utility operations.
• Experience working with utility platforms and operational systems such as SCADA, EMS, DERMS, VPP, Historians, Asset Management Systems, GIS, or related technologies.
• Familiarity with power system planning, grid operations, load forecasting, network optimisation, dispatch, or related energy domain functions.
• Exposure to projects including but not limited to IoT, real-time monitoring, demand response, smart grid technologies, predictive maintenance, energy management systems, or other digital utility initiatives
• Experience defining solution architectures across application, integration, data, cloud, and operational technology within utility or infrastructure environments would be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, technology, vendors, and business leadership teams
