Our client is a reputable regional corporate bank with an established presence across Asia. As part of its continued business growth and regulatory enhancement initiatives, the bank is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead its compliance function and ensure adherence to evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Your new role
As Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for leading the overall compliance framework and providing strategic guidance to senior leadership on regulatory and compliance matters.
Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and oversee the bank's compliance function, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain an effective compliance framework covering regulatory compliance, conduct risk, and compliance governance.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulators and manage regulatory inspections, reviews, and inquiries.
• Provide expert compliance advisory support to business units on new products, services, and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the bank's operations and control environment.
• Oversee compliance monitoring, testing, surveillance, and reporting programmes.
• Ensure effective management of compliance incidents, investigations, remediation actions, and regulatory reporting.
• Partner closely with Risk, Legal, Audit, and business stakeholders to strengthen the overall control framework.
• Lead compliance training and awareness programmes to promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
• Manage and develop a team of compliance professionals, driving high performance and continuous improvement.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Extensive compliance experience gained within banking, with significant exposure to corporate banking and regulatory compliance.
• Proven leadership experience managing a compliance function within a licensed bank.
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, regulatory expectations, compliance governance, and risk management frameworks.
• Experience interacting directly with regulators and managing regulatory examinations.
• Strong understanding of financial crime compliance, including AML, sanctions, and anti-bribery requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives and board-level stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Professional qualifications in compliance, legal, risk management, or related disciplines would be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional Asian language capabilities would be beneficial.
