A secretive London trading firm might have started hiring in New York
London is home to plenty of secretive electronic trading firms, including Quadrature Capital and XTX Markets, but one of the most tenured is G-Research. The firm, led by the husband of ex-Conservative MP Andrea Leadsom, has been steadily growing its US operations; it opened a second office in Stamford and now looks to be hiring in New York as well.

G-Research, founded in 2001, describes itself as a quantitative research and technology firm. It employed over 1,000 employees as of March 2023 and paid roughly $292k per head. Recently, the firm made cuts in its London HQ after an extended period of hiring, letting go of ~100 staff in London; it has been described as "the only electronic trading firm letting people go" as markets pick up. Meanwhile, G-Research is growing in the US.
On G-Research's vacancies page, the firm has recently added New York as a location alongside London, Dallas, Stamford and Sterling, Virginia. The firm notably opened its Dallas technology hub in late 2023 and employs the bulk of its US employees there. It's currently hiring for 14 roles in Dallas and two in Stamford, with no open roles in either New York or Sterling, the latter of which was first added as a location last June.
On G-Research's website, the firm only shows locations for offices in London and Dallas. However, openings in Stamford mention an "informal dress code" and a "great selection of office snacks" as employee perks, so it presumably has a physical office there. G-Research has been hiring externally for its Stamford office, including software engineer Mark Gizejewski who moved from Barclays in New York this January.
It's not clear whether the firm has premises in Sterling or New York as yet. G-Research did not respond to a request for comment.
