Ruff left Citi last May, aged 40. He spent nearly 10 years at the bank and was reportedly put on leave in March after berating juniors. Reuters reported that Ruff shouted at juniors for joining a meeting late, prompting another Citi MD to intervene. He was also accused of insulting and intimidating a new analyst during a telephone call and of complaining that juniors wouldn't work on Saturdays even though Citi gave analysts Saturdays off. Ruff didn't respond to a request to comment on the allegations at the time.
At Cabrera, Ruff is a managing director on the capital markets team, based in New York. Cabrera describes itself as a Latino owned investment bank and minority owned business enterprise. Its head of capital markets, Santino Bibbo, has worked there for over two decades. It was founded by Martin Cabrera Junior in 2007.
Cabrera doesn't appear to have many analysts in New York, so Ruff may have to work slightly differently. Multiple former Citi colleagues have congratulated him on his new role.
