Goldman Sachs engineering pay: What you'll earn from analyst to VP
Last week, we looked at how much software engineers earned at JPMorgan. Data from Levels.fyi suggests it's more lucrative to work at Goldman Sachs instead.

Based on over 650 Levels.fyi datapoints from Goldman Sachs engineers in the US, UK and India since the start of 2025, we've found out the average engineering pay at each seniority of the bank in those regions. Goldman engineers outearned JPMorgan at each seniority in each location.
Engineering analysts at Goldman in the US earn ~15% more on average than those at JPMorgan, while engineers in Goldman's global capacity centre (GCC) in India earn almost 40% more than JPMorgan's Indian analysts. As you progress up the ranks, the disparity between the banks narrows.
It's worth noting, however, that Goldman's VP class on Levels,fyi includes executive directors while EDs are broken out as their own class at JPMorgan.
What kinds of engineers earn the most at Goldman Sachs?
While JPMorgan's engineers had a lot of variation depending on what field they worked, pay is much more uniform at Goldman. Still, some types of engineers are better paid than others.
While full-stack engineers were some of the lowest paid technologists at JPMorgan, the opposite is true at Goldman. They earn $127.7k on average, more than any other major engineering type.
AI engineers came in second, earning $123.7k on average, but this pales in comparison to JPMorgan, where they earn over $200k.
