BlueCrest, the most desirable, non-hedge fund may be prepping a hiring spree
If you want to work for Michael Platt at BlueCrest, you may be at a loss for how to do so. The hedge fund which is now a family office has vanished its website and publishes no contact details.

Despite this, people find their way there. Kal El Wahab, until recently Bank of America's head of linear rates trading, is understood to be joining BlueCrest. Last year's recruits included Barclays' trading star Ankur Aneja. In Asia, we understand that both Jenna Lee from Nomura and Prateek Gupta from Millennium are currently destined for the firm.
The road to BlueCrest probably involves BlueCrest's internal recruiters, making their multiplication a good sign. Last year, BlueCrest added two new senior recruiters to its ranks towards year-end.
James Whittingham, a self-professed expert in "scaling world class teams," joined in September. Nicola Cooper-Huntley, a former talent acquisition partner at MUFG, joined in November. Both appear focused on non-portfolio manager roles, however.
BlueCrest is a desirable place to work because it is both highly performant and highly paying. Most desirable appears to be its Dubai office, where the high pay comes with low tax.
The fund is currently embroiled in a battle at the UK's Supreme Court, in which it's arguing that its partners who are "members" with salaries, have decision-making responsibilities involving the management of $100m+ pools of capital that should absolve BlueCrest of the need to pay employer's National Insurance contributions.
